Mick B. Hill

1946 -2020

It is with great sadness that we have learnt that Mick Hill, Life Vice President of EFRA has passed away on the 19th July 2020.

Mick was a force within the RC community. He chaired the Rally X section for EFRA and was the Secretary of the BRCA for many years. Anyone fortunate enough to have known him will appreciate that his drive, passion and demanding standards for Rally X contributed to our sport in so many ways. Many us played “catchup” to Mick’s endeavours which drove up standards in the other classes.

As many others who end up “officials” his initial interest was raised when he took his two sons, Paul and David, racing. They, of course, they moved on, but Mick retained his passion for our sport. First becoming the Section Chairman then the Secretary of the BRCA in the late 80’s then the Rally X Section Chairman in EFRA. He lobbied, organised and ran Nationals, European Championships and World Championships. All these with great panache and style that always made them bigger and better.

Born on the 19th February 1946 in Bromley, Kent. He was always a “country” boy at heart and his career was firmly based in something he loved, namely Tractors! After retirement he did not let this go. He was the Technical Director at the “Friends of Ferguson Heritage” and still had a small fleet of his own.

Even when his health deteriorated, he was able to benefit others with his experience and drive. With the help of Janet, who gets our deepest condolences and also deserves so much credit, they were a team that supported our community in so many ways.

The EFRA Board wants to express their condolences to the Family left behind.
