Crawler Report
EFRA visited the Crawler Event in Girona organised by the local club Santa Coloma de Farners supported and promoted by AECAR. We took the opportunity to see how such an event is managed, how driving works and who was there. First impression was already observing the location… on a mountain with Mr. Pineda, the president of AECAR. He picked us up at midnight at the airport in Barcelona and gave us a lift to this event and back. The stony and dusty street to the top of the mountain was bent like a rally trail with many hairpin bends, it felt already a bit like crawling!

How it works
This event had a setup of 6 trails, and the number of participants divided by the number of trails gives the group size. All participants do all the trails once. The more participants are in the race, the shorter the time length of each trail. Each trail has its speciality, my opinion was that each trail was difficult. With a lot of passion the driver crawls their vehicle through the trail, trying to not hit the tennis ball markers, this counts as a mistake. Also it’s charged as a fault is when you skip a passage, when you fall off the stone hill, when time runs out, or you have no result if you quit before you get to the target passage. In the end the driver who makes the least mistakes and could do this in the fastest time wins.
Result Report for each driver and Referee watching the trail pace, get ready to start and GO!
The best are the youngsters, the result sheet from Biel here on Trail 2 in action, was the winner 1st place and Mario 2nd place on trail 3 after their first round. A happy father after the excellent results from son Biel, congratulations from EFRA. On the videoclip, you can see how some meters on the trail have been performed by Biel and Mario.
Mario Frisoni very happy after the race on trail 1 even when they were some mistakes.
Also other moments to get the car ready
Crawler Practice on the Rally Trail with walking behind the car and get past all the obstacles without falling from the stone or falling off. A pleasure for everyone, and proud to have a short talk with crawler friend father and son. The cellular phone on the remote control taking video and spoken information about how to tackle the obstacles in order to learn for other situations.
