Kerstin Bessler - International Women of RC

Today we say hello to another new mother and International Woman of RC, it's Kerstin Bessler!

Hey Kerstin! how did you get started in RC?
I started racing in 2010 or 2011 I really don`t know exactly. My husband Christian races since 25 years ago and as I met him in 2004 I went with him on races and helped him in the pit. Once I said, that I would like to drive RC Cars and I practiced a bit at our home track and he said 'it looks not so bad ;-)' ...a little bit later i bought my first car.

Racing cars is traditionally a male dominated activity - did you find RC a welcoming environment to join?
RC is for me like a little family. I?m really happy when after the normal life at home it is race weekend. I meet friends from all over the country and of course also at international races. Last year I became a mother. Our daughter is now 8 month old, now we will travel less. No international races. But for some races in our country we bought us a motorhome and so we can travel with the complete family to races. I love to be at the track.

Would you like to see more women in the sport?
Of course. It is nice to see women at the driver stand.

What would you say to any women reading this considering getting involved?
Not only think about do it!

Finally, as it's International Women's Day. Tell us a woman you look up to... (Either inside or outside of RC)
I look up to my mother ? Now I?m also a mother and I know what she has done for me.
