1/10th Track Euros Qualifying Complete!

After 4 hot and humid rounds, who has landed the TQ position?
Despite having four rounds of qualifying, all the drivers yesterday already thought that Round 2 would be the "rocket round" in which the conditions would be best and the fastest times would be set. That proved to be the case with the round starting late afternoon and running until just after 8pm as the sun was setting. With the track getting very hot under the 35 degree temperatures during the other rounds, drivers made the cooler evenign weather and the high grip levels to set some of the fastest times. It was Italian driver, and winner of the warm up meeting, Alessio Mazzeo who came out on top with a 29 lap run in 7:09.516.
Second fastest was fellow Italian and former double European Champion Dario Ballestri. Dario said his qualifying had gone well and he was happy with his car, but was really focussed on just making a Semi final place and then on racing his way into the main final. With lots of fast drivers out there, he knows this will be difficult to do.

Third place overall after qualifying is electric touring car World Champion, Jilles Groskamp, who was just 2 tenths of a second away from the TQ time, showing how close this class of RC Racing is. Jilles, who hasn't raced IC Touring Cars for about 6 months, was happy with the speed he showed.
The defending champion, Robert Pietsch, had a very difficult qualifying, incurring a stop-go penalty in round one, making a big mistake in the rock round 2, and then having an engine cut on his fuel stop in round 3. This left him everything to do in the final, hot, qualifying round, where he managed to place his car into the quarter finals, where he will then have to work his way into a Semi Final before beginning to think about making the main final and defending his title.
