Saturday Morning |
As the drivers arrive at the track for the second day of qualifying, we catch up with Dutch driver, Jilles Groskamp |
The Dutch racer, now living and working in Thailand, has been spending the last few months living back in his home country (bringing his young family with him!) to race at a number of the big European events and prepare for a few of the EFRA championships |
The Team Orion powered driver said that the track is very challenging to drive and a small mistake can prove very costly - as he found out in the second round of qualifying when he was on for a potential TQ time but clipped a kerb and ended up outside hte top 5. However, he said that many of the top drivers are making mistakes and therefore there is a good chance that anyone who can make the A final will have a chance to win. |
He says that he initaially thought he was off the pace, but seeing how many different (and often unexpected!) drivers we are seeing at the top of the time sheets leaves him feeling that he is not as slow as he initally thought! He will make some small changes to the setup in the hope of securing a reasonable grid slot for the finals, but admitted that pole position may not be possible for him this weekend. |
For more updates on the progress of Jilles and the other 100 racers here, make sure you keep checking www.EFRA.ws throughout the weekend! |
