Lee Martin wins Leg 1! |
Defending champion takes commanding victory |
Lee Martin took the win in Leg 1 of the A Final at the 2011 2WD EFRA Euros. The British driver, starting second on the grid, passed pole sitter and fellow countryman Neil Cragg on the opening lap and managed to hold the lead for the remainder of the race. Behind Lee, there was a fantastic scrap for the remaining podium places as Neil was caught by Jorn Neumann, Paul Bradby and then Hupo Honigl. Some position changing throughout the race and some brilliant close racing came to a premature end for Paul as he broke his car on the penultimate lap. |
This all allowed Lee lots of breathing space and he crossed the line 7 seconds clear of the field at the end of the 5 minutes. Neil finished in second with Hupo third, Jorn fourth and Ellis Stafford fifth. Stay tuned to www.EFRA.ws for the news from the second and third legs of the finals, plus of course our comprehensive video roundup later this evening! |
